Rock Town Distillery Issues Voluntary Recall of Hand Sanitizer

Solution was found to contain acetal and acetaldehyde above specification limits, according to FDA analysis

Rock Town Distillery, Inc., Little Rock, AR, has initiated a voluntary recall of hand sanitizer products. The hand sanitizer alcohol antisectic 70% topical solution was found to contain acetal and acetaldehyde above specification limits, according to the FDA analysis. The recall currently covers 38,468 containers that included 375 mL, 1 gallon, 8 oz and 16 oz products.

At the onset of the pandemic in 2020, many companies rushed to produce hand sanitizer to help prevent the spread of covid-19 when the FDA allowed non-drug manufacturers to produce the product. The agency ended the temporary guidance on Dec. 31, 2021.
